Welcome to the website of PAH Media!

My name is Alvin Witcher, and I would like to share a brief story about how I became involved in the film industry.

In 1999, I enrolled in a broadcasting course at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Eventually, I was a freelancer and worked with many different organizations in video production, web development, and many more. In 2003, I decided to take Multimedia courses at the International Academy of Design and Technology. My goal was to gain more experience and skills in media. After graduating, I continued doing freelance work in film and multimedia.

When I moved to Toronto, I founded the online “Deaf Ontario TV". Many people from the Deaf community have really enjoyed watching my online videos, because most of the videos were documentaries and interviewed people. Unfortunately, I had to shut down Deaf Ontario TV due to lack of funds from donations. I pursued other hobbies until the COVID-19 pandemic came and impacted everyone, which made me realize that something was missing in the Deaf community - there was a lack of sharing information, specifically about Deaf people, our stories and experiences. It was time I rolled up my sleeves and returned to my original passion: making documentaries to share Deaf stories.

I feel it is crucial that I give back to our Deaf community by creating space for us to develop and view documentaries and films, including members from the Deaf community. Documentaries and films carry our stories throughout history, from the past to the present and the future, from Deaf adults to Deaf children. We are their role models and their inspirations.
